Westbury Christmas Celebration
Each year the town council puts up and takes down the town’s colourful Christmas lights and organises the annual switch-on event.
The town council also provides the Christmas tree in the Market Place

High Street and Market Place
Westbury Town Council scored another event bullseye with its heart-warming ‘Christmas in Westbury’ event for all the family on Saturday 3rd December. A busy Winter Market in the High Street catered for Christmas shopping; with funfair rides and circus workshops near the Library to keep the children amused. Musical entertainment here was provided by Primary Schools choirs, Rock Choir and the Bratton Silver Band.
In the Market Place were a variety of hot, freshly made tasty food and drink stalls to keep everyone warm, while watching Dangerous Dave’s puppet show, live music and dance. Santa held court in his new grotto and after a chat, each child was given a homemade gingerbread biscuit.
The event ended with the winner of the Mayor’s Christmas card competition, Orla Pearce, switching on the lights. Thank you to Westbury residents for all your support and we hope you all enjoyed the event as much as we did.

Christmas 2020
The traditional market and music entertainment could not take place in 2020 due to Covid-19.
However…
A Magical Mystery Virtual Christmas Film was released on Saturday 28th November 2020, coinciding with the lights being switched on across the town.
You can watch the film right here:
“The film featured music, art, dance, drama, all surrounded by a scripted screenplay in a magical comedy drama,” a Christmas in Westbury Spokesperson said. “Think Spielberg meets David Walliams all wrapped up in a local magical mystery.”
Westbury Town Council were determined to bring the town together in safe and creative ways, commissioning the film earlier in the year to ensure residents could enjoy a Christmas Celebration at home.
More than 90 cast and crew worked on the 35-minute film, which made Covid compliant production a huge but extremely rewarding challenge. We hope you like it!
