Applications for Grant Aid 2020-21

Grants Application 2020/21

Updated 28.05.2020
Westbury Town Council is currently working very hard to assist our local community and we are very fortunate that we have the commitment of many local businesses, organisations and volunteers who are helping us to support those within our town most effected by Covid-19.

Whilst some of our council business is on hold, we are trying to keep as many of our day to day activities running as normal. This will include considering applications for Grant Aid.

In these uncertain times, we understand that applying for a grant on behalf of your community or voluntary group may not be a priority for you but we wanted to let you know that we have extended our deadline for receiving grant applications until January 31st 2021. Our councillors will consider applications as and when received, making awards in line with our Grant Aid Policy, for as long as available funds allow.

Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that we will be able to hold our Annual Awards Evening on October 2020, which is of great disappointment to both councillors and staff. We all look forward to this relaxed and happy evening, when we can have the opportunity to catch up with you all and celebrate in your success. We will continue to review this and if government guidance changes, we may hold this event at a later date.

Should you wish to apply for a grant from the town council, you will find our latest Grant Aid Policy and Application Form below.

You can also obtain copies by emailing grants@westburytowncouncil.gov.uk or calling us on 01373 822232.

We would prefer to receive application forms by email however we are also happy to receive applications by post.

On behalf of our councillors and town council staff we hope that you and members of your organisation remain safe and well.

Westbury Town Council considers grant applications from voluntary organisations and groups, who help to make Westbury a great place to live.

The town council aims to promote a healthy and cohesive community by using its Grant Aid Scheme to provide financial support for community groups working for the benefit of residents of Westbury.

The town council recognises and supports the valuable contribution made by the voluntary and “not for profit” sector to the well-being of our community.

Timetable for 2020/21 grants: (updated 24.06.2020)

We have been working hard to support our community during the Covid pandemic and although this has impacted on our day to day activities, we are beginning to return to business as usual.

We recognise that many organisations who apply to us for grants, will have been unable to meet to discuss making an application this year. Therefore we have revised our applications deadline:

Revised timeframe for grant applications:
• Applications received by end of January 2021
• Review of applications completed by end February 2021
• Approval by Town Council March 2021

We will continue to review applications as and when we receive them and make recommendations to award grants as long as funds remain available.

Grants awarded 23rd October 2019

Last year the town council awarded grants to almost 30 organisations for the purchase or equipment or to support a specific activity. The ages of those who will benefit from these grants range from the very young to the young at heart. We have supported sporting activities, music and arts, care and welfare. We have contributed to tackling such issues as loneliness and isolation through voluntary organisations who support the most vulnerable in our town.

We are always humbled by the dedicated and selfless volunteers who give so much to our community and we are committee to continuing our support.

Congratulations and well done to the following groups that received a Grant on 23rd October 2019.

Alzheimer’s Support, Stepping Stones, French Twinning, Westbury Sailing Club, Westbury Lions, Friends of WCR, Women’s Guild, Group 5, Bitham Brook Cookery Club, West Wilts Special Needs Scheme, Art Craft and Natter Group, Golden Oldies, Cygnets Pre School, Splitz Support Service, Westbury Swimming Club, White Horse Pre School, Hope for Tomorrow, Rotary Satellite Club, 1st Westbury Scouts, Infinity Dance, Relate, Wessex MS, Blue Circle Bowls
