Rotunda Consultation 2023
The rotunda, a popular open space at the end of Westbury’s High Street could be about to get a face list as Westbury Town Council have commissioned a redesign of the rotunda.
Working with the council and Roundfield landscape architects, the council’s Vision for Westbury Group have agreed upon a concept design that:
- Re-uses the existing structure.
- Removes some of the walls to create an attractive public space that links to the war memorial, the library, and the rest of town.
- Creates an open and adaptable space that can be used for seating, market stalls, Sunday Brunch, performances and events.
“It is important to us that we share this vision with our residents, collect any feedback and use this information to come up with the best design we can for this space” said Councillor Mark Bailey, Chairman for the Vision for Westbury Sub-Committee. “It’s a well-used space with so much potential and once re-developed, it will be a real asset for our town centre”.
The town council will be undertaking a series of consultations to collect public feedback.
Residents were invited to talk to Jim Hallybone of Roundfield landscape architects who designed the new scheme, at the Chilli Fest on Saturday 23rd September from 1pm to 5pm. Jim shared his vision for the rotunda and residents provided feedback.
A 3-week online consultation ran from Monday 25th September 2023 at 9am until midday on Monday 16th October 2023.
A face to face consultation will be held at The Laverton on Tuesday 7th November from 5pm to 7pm.
Once the consultations have ended and feedback evaluated, final plans and full scheme costings will be submitted to the full town council committee to vote on.
