Things to See & Do

Walking & Cycling

Walking

With around 8,200 paths and almost half the county designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, walking in Wiltshire has never been better.

There is a network of footpaths to suit everyone; whether you want to take a gentle stroll or something a little more challenging.

Westbury is lucky in that it has easy access to open countryside close to the town where there are a variety of walks.  However, if you want something a little more urban, you can wander around Westbury following the Blue Plaque Trail and take in a little of Westbury’s history.

Here are a couple of walks to start you off – one to the White Horse and one to the pretty village of Horningsham and Longleat’s Heaven’s Gate

Cycling

Cycling is another way of keeping fit whilst taking in the amazing countryside we have in Wiltshire.

The Wiltshire Cycleway is a circular cycle route around the county and has been designed to be cycled in an anti-clockwise direction.  It is 160 miles (225 km) long and to make the route more accessible, the Cycleway has been split into 16 sections which you can download from the Wiltshire Council website.

Much more information on walking and cycling around Westbury and Wiltshire can be found on the Wiltshire Council website.
