Men's Group @ The Laverton

Westbury Town Council has launched its first Men’s Group, highlighting the fact that mental wellbeing is a yearlong focus.

The group will run every Monday at 7pm in the Laverton’s Abraham room.

Wiltshire’s higher than national average suicide rate is one motivation for the group, not least because 75% of all suicides are male. It’s also true that 1 in 8 men have a common mental health problem but are far less likely to seek help than their female counterparts.

However, the group is also aimed at anyone who just fancies a chat.

This meetup is all about having an informal space to talk or listen. Whether that’s about feeling a bit down or how terrible Man United are these days. There is no pressure and you don’t even have to say a word if you don’t want to. There’s tea, coffee and some snacks, along with a group of blokes who won’t judge and will just lend an ear.

This is going to be the start of a really exciting time for the town in terms of tackling it’s problems and highlighting its strengths together as a community.

The Westbury Men’s Group begins on Monday November 4th, at 7pm at the Laverton.

Local Community Policing Team - drop-in clinics @ The Laverton, Reading Room

People in the Westbury area are being invited to drop in and speak to their local community policing team.

Neighbourhood PC Helen Daveridge has organised a series of sessions to allow her to speak to the community and hear their views on any issues concerning them and to find out more about what is important to them.

This can include getting feedback on local policing and what they would like to see prioritised.

The monthly sessions are taking place at the Town Council offices, The Laverton and anyone is welcome to come along.

The details are as follows:

Tuesday 28th January 2020
Tuesday 25th February 2020
Tuesday 31st March 2020

The sessions will be held in the Reading Room, 11am-1pm
